PURCHASE/ DISTRIBUTION OF AGRI-INPUTS 

The main objective of this activity is to make available quality agricultural inputs to the farmers at reasonable price at the right place and time. To boost agricultural production in the State, timely supply of inputs to the farmers is of paramount importance. Hafed is rendering yeoman’s service in making available agricultural inputs on reasonable price at the door step of the farmers including remote areas through Cooperative Marketing Societies and Primary Agricultural Cooperatives (Mini Banks) in the State. 
 

  • PURCHASE PROCESS OF FERTILIZERS/ SEEDS

Hafed makes direct agreements for urea with suppliers like IFFCO, Kribhco, NFL and other major suppliers of Urea. As regards purchases of DAP, Hafed invites Global tenders for arranging approx 2.5 lac M.T DAP annually and these purchases are finalised by High Powered Purchase Committee of the State Government. These tenders are floated mainly in the month of April and August every year. Zinc Sulphate is arranged from the different suppliers approved by Director Agriculture Haryana by inviting tenders in the month of April every year. The arrangement of Seeds are made from Haryana Seed Development Corporation for supply to the Marketing Societies. 
 

  • DISTRIBUTION PROCESS

There is a Three Tier System of distribution of Inputs i.e. The Apex Federation, Wholesale Marketing Societies and Mini Banks. Distribution of inputs is ensured through cooperative net work of 62 Cooperative Marketing Societies and about 2200 Primary Agricultural Cooperative and Credit Societies (Mini Banks). The suppliers make deliveries of fertilizers Ex their warehouses/ Ex-Rail Head/ F.O.R Marketing Societies/ Hafed RHA’s.

PROCUREMENT AND MARKETING OF AGRI-PRODUCE  

I. Support Price Operations

As per its main objective HAFED is playing a pivotal role in providing marketing support to the farmers of Haryana. Its presence in the market ensure minimum support price to the farmers for their produce.

Hafed is one of the State procuring agencies for Procurement of Foodgrains for Central Pool with largest share among all the Procuring Agencies. Haryana produces more than 10 millions tones of Food Grain with surplus both in Wheat & Paddy. Hafed is involved in Procurement of Wheat, Paddy, Barley & Bajra on Minimum Support Price.

Nafed is the Central Nodal Agency of Govt. of India for Procurement of different Oil Seeds and Pulses under the price support scheme, Hafed procures Oil Seeds under Price Support Scheme as an Agent of Nafed directly from the farmers of Haryana on the shops of Cooperative Marketing Societies.

PRESERVATION OF THE AGRI-WEALTH 


 COVERED/CAP STORAGE 
       Hafed has created a long chain of godowns and plinths for scientific storage of foodgrains and to create buffer for storage of fertilizers in the off season so that continuous supply line is maintained when there is demand for such inputs.

COLD STORAGES 
      Hafed also handles wet warehousing by setting up three cold storages one each at Shahbad of the capacity of 4000 MT, at Hisar of 4000 MT and at Taraori of 3000 MT. 
  


AGRI-PROCESSING FOR VALUE ADDITION 

Objective of value addition to the farm produce by Hafed is achieved through a chain of processing units including 13 Rice Mills, one Barley Malt Plant, two Animal Feeds Plant, a Pesticides Plant, two Oil Seeds Processing Mills.
